Tips for Effective Letters
Be Specific
Include your full address to establish that you're a constituent. Reference specific projects or docket numbers if known.
Keep Records
Save a copy of every letter. If emailing, request delivery confirmation. Physical letters can be sent certified mail.
Follow Up
If you don't receive a response within two weeks, follow up. You can escalate to elected officials if staff don't respond.
Attend Meetings
Letters are more effective when combined with in-person participation. Show up to public meetings and reference your letter.
