Google launched a project website for its Buffalo, West Virginia data center campus in early June 2026. WV MetroNews reported on June 3, 2026 that the site is near Buffalo, that Google had purchased 1,700 acres on both sides of Route 62, and that the company released conceptual site-plan information before permitting and groundbreaking. Google's project site says it is advancing plans for a Buffalo campus, will coordinate with the West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office, will pay for required electrical infrastructure including substations and transmission upgrades, and aims to replenish 120 percent more freshwater than it consumes across data centers and offices by 2030.
