Botetourt County's project page says Google publicly announced the Botetourt Center at Greenfield campus on June 24, 2025, bought a 312-acre parcel, submitted first grading permit applications in February 2026, and expects first data-center construction in calendar 2026 with first structure fit for occupancy in 2028. Google's project website describes three planned data center buildings, at least $10 million of expected annual local tax revenue per building, and at least 150 permanent on-site jobs once operational. Virginia Business reported a $3 billion project commitment by 2030.
