Data Notes

Coverage

This database attempts to document all major datacenter projects in the United States with announced investment exceeding $10 million or power capacity exceeding 10 MW. Smaller projects, especially enterprise datacenters, may not be fully represented.

Limitations

  • "Announced" does not mean "built" — many projects are modified or canceled
  • Investment figures often include multi-phase totals that may span decades
  • Power capacity may refer to planned maximum, not current operational capacity
  • Some fields contain null/missing values where data is unavailable

Updates

The database is updated periodically as new information becomes available. The lastUpdated field in individual records indicates when that record was last modified.
