Shelterforce, republishing The Daily Yonder, reported on June 18, 2026 that the prospective $5 billion Wiscasset data center had not broken ground and that the 300-acre Old Ferry Road site remained undeveloped as of publication. The article also reported that on March 3, 2026 Lincoln County reallocated Wiscasset's federal housing funds to Waldoboro and Newcastle after the town's handling of the data center prospect shifted the original housing-funded plan.
