Janesville was negotiating with Viridian Partners for redevelopment of the former GM/JATCO site into an 800 MW, 11-building digital campus with a reported $8B investment. WTMJ reported the city was in a 120-day negotiation period for a purchase and sale agreement and that residents would vote on a referendum affecting large redevelopment decisions. Earlier WPR reporting described the site as a 250-acre brownfield and said Viridian would clean it up under a DNR-approved plan.
