Current canonical record

This record tracks UH Cancer Center PAC-AID Medical AI Core Data Center in Hawaii.

UH announced a more than $12 million, five-year NIH award to establish the Pacific Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Medicine. The project will renovate the UH Cancer Center Data Center to establish a Medical AI Core on the shared Kakaako campus of the UH Cancer Center and JABSOM. GovTech/Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported on 2026-06-22 that work was already underway to convert and outfit a garage-sized, air-conditioned, ground-floor room into an AI data center by the end of 2026, and that $300,000 of the federal funds would convert the Cancer Center data center and equip it with high-speed equipment. The broader award is larger, but the disclosed data-center conversion amount is $300,000.
