Stronach Township officials began preliminary discussions in spring 2026 about a possible data center on 150 acres on Stronach Road owned by Joe Tondu of Tondu Corporation. Manistee News Advocate reported on May 12, 2026 that more than 225 people attended a township meeting, Tondu said there were no deals or commitments with technology companies, and residents raised concerns about grid strain, utility bills, water, noise, light, and rural character. Subsequent local reporting says a six-month moratorium took effect June 10, 2026 through December 31, 2026, and no formal application had been filed.
