Current canonical record
This record tracks St. Albans Large-Scale Data Center Proposal in Vermont.
VTDigger reported on February 24, 2026 that the first known attempt to bring a large-scale data center to Vermont occurred in St. Albans in 2025, when then-town manager Sean Adkins worked with a developer on one of two planned projects, described as either 8-12 MW or 50 MW. The larger facility could have created about 1,000 temporary construction jobs and 20 permanent jobs. The plans fell through because connecting the project to the electric grid would have required about $30 million for a substation and related infrastructure. Because the source describes alternative capacity concepts rather than one final design, powerCapacityMW is null and the capacity range is retained in notes.
