Sabey had planned a data center on a roughly 600-acre parcel in the Montana Connections business park at German Gulch Road and Rick Jones Way, with NorthWestern Energy power service expected at 50 MW in 2027 and potential expansion to 250 MW or more by 2029. Data Center Dynamics reported on May 29, 2026 that Sabey backed out after REC Silicon exercised right-of-first-refusal rights for part of the parcel; county officials said Sabey was still looking elsewhere in southwest Montana, so this row reflects cancellation of the Butte land-deal/campus proposal rather than a companywide exit from Montana.
