2,100-acre campus with former Alcoa Eastalco Works power infrastructure; includes 600-acre nature reserve
Technical.ly reported on June 8, 2026 that the 600-acre nature reserve once promoted as a signature Quantum Frederick community and sustainability benefit appears to have disappeared from current public plans after Quantum Loophole exited and Catellus took over; the University of Maryland design contract for the reserve was canceled. Frederick County says its July 1, 2026 pause stops new data center applications through December 31, 2026 but does not stop projects currently under construction or properties with earlier development approvals.
