Microsoft announced on April 14, 2026 that it intends to purchase approximately 3,200 additional acres for a Cheyenne datacenter expansion, split between about 200 acres in Bison Business Park on Wapiti Trail east of South Greeley Highway and about 3,000 adjacent acres in southeast Cheyenne. Microsoft described the acquisition as the start of a multiyear planning and development process, and Black Hills later described the 3,200-acre expansion as upside potential to its data center growth pipeline. Microsoft did not disclose project-specific capex or MW in the announcement.
