The Source reported on 2026-05-28 that the La Pine City Council unanimously voted on 2026-05-27 to quash the proposed industrial land sale for a Boxminer.io data center at the La Pine Industrial Park; the proposal involved a 20-acre parcel, an initial roughly 20,000-square-foot facility, a 20 MW electrical load, and closed-loop cooling claims. The land sale would also have required Deschutes County approval, and the city manager questioned the developer's jobs and revenue estimates. Data Center Dynamics' 2026-05-25 article identified the proposal as a Boxminer 20 MW crypto/data center proposal on Reed Road.
