Initially abandoned project due to generator permit denial; resumed after Critical Infrastructure Streamlining Act passed. Maryland Department of Environment approved 170+ emergency generators in January 2024.. Turner announced on March 9, 2026 that the Aligned IAD-06 data center in Frederick topped out, completing the structural phase of a 72 MW facility fewer than five months after breaking ground. DCD reported the two-story 450,000-square-foot IAD-06 building is part of Aligned's 75-acre, four-building, 264 MW plan within Quantum Frederick. Frederick County's July 1, 2026 pause on new data center applications does not stop projects currently under construction.
